We moved, finally, and yesterday we unpacked the trailer. A wise buddhist one day wrote that expectations are the enemy of happiness and damn if he or she wasn't right. I expected things to arrive in pretty much the same shape that we sent them, but no, that was overly hopeful. They didn't.
A poorly placed piece of furniture toppled somewhere in transit and collapsed the tetris-like configuration of stuff into a jumbled mass. Interestingly, the company tried to do something about it, not that they told us, for when we entered the trailer we noticed a second bulkhead in front of ours, directly in front. We also noticed that they were at 14 feet and not 10. Hmm... ominous...
We lost a few things, other stuff was damaged, but in the end we were pretty okay with that. Having lived out of two suitcases, ones small enough for carry-on, we realized that we didn't really need much else, not that we wanted to lose it all. The worst part is the smell--we think they shipped our stuff with stale, overly buttered popcorn. Pew!
